For ventilated facades, total costs are primarily determined by installation time, adjustment work, detailing and preparation. A low-cost profile can prove expensive on site if significant measuring, drilling, alignment or modification is required. An I-Facade system may contain slightly more material than a basic profile solution, yet prove more cost-effective through reduced manual adjustment, less on-site modification and a lower risk of errors.
A complete I-Facade solution
A ventilated facade consists of facade cladding, insulation, a ventilated cavity and a subframe. The subframe connects the cladding to the primary structure and must accommodate dimensional tolerances.
Depending on the project, an I-Facade solution comprises wall brackets, extension plates, aluminium, steel or stainless steel profiles, anchors, screws, blind rivets, thermal breaks and a visible or concealed fixing method.

The right system configuration for the project
A simple, flat facade requires a different solution from a tall, complex or refurbished one. On a level substrate, a straightforward profile configuration may be sufficient. Where greater tolerance compensation is needed, substrates vary, cladding is complex or concealed fixing is specified, a multi-layer subframe is often required.
A two-layer system typically consists of wall brackets with profiles, followed by carrier profiles or rails. This requires more material and installation steps, but provides greater flexibility in facade layout, insulation thickness and fixing method.

An adjustable I-Facade system allows profiles to be set accurately in a single plane, reducing the need for packing pieces, corrections and bespoke solutions. Wall brackets with extension plates enable flexible compensation for substrate variation and the required position of the cladding.

Details and fixing
A large, flat facade surface is relatively efficient to install. Windows, doors, reveals, corners, soffits, roof edges and offsets all generate additional setting-out, fabrication and fixing points. The number of square metres therefore does not fully reflect the actual installation costs.
The fixing method also plays a role. I-Facade offers visible fixing — for example with screws or blind rivets, with heads colour-matched to the facade cladding. For a clean facade appearance, concealed options are also available using plate hooks, clamps or adhesive systems.
Concealed fixing typically requires more preparation, but can be highly efficient on site when panels have been pre-prepared off site.
Preparation is cost saving
A well-designed subframe starts before installation begins. By fabricating profiles to length in advance, planning processing steps and delivering materials in the correct sequence, the installer needs to carry out fewer operations on site.
This is particularly valuable where storage space is limited, work is carried out at height, the programme is tight or the facade is complex. Good preparation reduces waiting time, material waste and defect costs.
